Alphabet-Backed Waymo Expands Robotaxi Services to Corporate Clients
Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous vehicle division, is launching "Waymo for Business," a corporate travel program allowing companies to manage employee rides in its robotaxis. The service spans major U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco, with plans to expand to Washington, D.C., and Miami by 2026.
Businesses can subsidize rides or purchase bulk promo codes, while an admin portal provides controls for budgeting and usage tracking. Waymo currently handles over 1 million monthly rides, with 15% of local commuters in key markets already using the service for work or school commutes.
The expansion comes as Waymo targets airport routes, having recently begun operations at Phoenix Sky Harbor. The move signals growing institutional adoption of autonomous vehicle technology, though no direct cryptocurrency implications were noted in the announcement.
